Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland

Vehicle private parking violation

On 7jun 04 i met my sister at a embark/debark point at a shoping center parking lot where we left my car and my sisters car in order to pull our mother from a bus returning from a bingo trip to rush her to emergency of u of m hospital center where she was dianosed with pneumonia and fever of 105.6 complicated by a congestive heart disease failure. She was admitted to hospital at 3am where she stayed for 4 days. On 8jun at about 1p, my sister and returned to retrieve our cars but discovered they were towed away. We called posted number, that we had not noticed before because of the emergency situation where we located our cars. To get our cars back we paid a $200.00 per car fee. We do not feel we got a fair deal. Is this worth going after even though a sign was posted but we thought we were dealing with possible heart emergency?
