I believe my daughter has been misrepresented in her fathers estate after his death. My question is: Does property (such as an automobile) have to be sold before it is included in the estate? If property was sold does the administrator of the estate have to show proof of the sale,

No, property does not need to be sold to be in the estate. Rather, the personal representative files an inventory showing the estate property at the beginning of the administration - this includes everything the decedent owned in his name at the time of his death. Later, the personal representative files a final account showing how much property was sold for.
