when an estate is opened, are siblings notified and if so, how?

In this state, interested persons must be identified in filings to the court and must receive a copy of all filings by mail. Interested persons are people who inherit under the will or people who would inherit if the decedent died without a will. This usually means the spouse and children and could possibly mean siblings of the decedent. An interested person may waive their right to receive notice.
Even if someone is not an "interested person" as defined under Maryland law, they can look at any open estate and get copies of all filings.
