are we liable

my father in law passed away 2 1/2 years ago. His estate is closed,are we liable for medical bills that are still coming in?

Re: are we liable

the personal representative of the estate had a duty to notify all known creditors of any probate estate opened. The assets of the estate are subject to the claims of creditors as allowed by the court and subject to contest by the Personal Representative. There is usually no personal liability existing for beneficiaries of the estate. You have omitted important facts, so a broad answer is the best one available.
