Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Maryland
non-US citizen spouse and house title
We're thinking of buying our first home. Givn my wife's not--name removed--US citizen (while I am), is it feasible and does it make sense to title the house under her name in order to avoid inheritance tax burden in case something happens? I don't mind if on paper (and in the eyes of the law) she owns the house 100%. Note that funds for downpayment is coming from--name removed--joint bank acct (although in truth it's mostly my money, but I don't mind). Also note, we will be applying for mortgage together (since her income alone may not qualify her). Thanks.

Re: non-US citizen spouse and house title
An alien who is not an enemy can deal with property in the same manner as a citizen by birth. I am available to assist with your necessary recordation.
Other titling options exist. Contact an attorney to discuss.
