Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Maryland

Wills & Estates

My mom just passed away and in my grandmother's will, she had left her house and other things to my mother. My question when she is to die, would I get what she left to my mom or how does that work?

Re: Wills & Estates

The better way is for your grandmother to prepare an updated Last Will and Testament. Since your grandmother is still alive her estate can avoid complexity with matters of pass through of estate that may be emboldened in her current will, that is bequests that may be given to your mother. Although preparing and registering a new will is relatively straight forward process an attorney should be consulted.

Without seeing the testamentary devices your interest cannot be determined. A legal analysis of these devices would be unnecessary should a new will be prepared.

You or your grandmother are welcome to contact me should your grandmother determine she needs a new will. 410.750.2567
