Legal Question in Workers Comp in Maryland

back injury

I injured my back at work, I work for the U.S.P.S and I'm waiting for workmans comp to approve my surgery. I'm getting a lumbar spine fusion, inject spine/s (CD), SP Bone Algrft Morsel Add-On, insert spine fixation device. Am I entitled to permanent injury compensation?

Re: back injury

In all likelihood you will be. At some point, presumably after you have the surgery and the recovery period from that, your physician will rate you for permanent disability. That rating which will indicate his or her opinion of the degree of impairment you have sustained after all medical avenues have been explored, if sustained by the workers' comp commission or per an agreement with USPS, will require them to pay you weekly benefits. If you haven't already, retain an experienced workers' comp attorney, preferably one who has handled government employees.
