Legal Question in Workers Comp in Maryland

maryland workers comp

I had a man who worked for less than a week, was paid under $400 in cash and never filed any paper work such as a w-4. I don't even know his last name. I own a corporation with no employees, I only use sub-contractors, so I don't carry any workers comp. This man fell on the job (I think it was his fourth day of working) and now he is complaining of pain, doctors, loss of money ect... I'm getting worried. Am I ok, would he be considered an employee or casual labor?

Re: maryland workers comp

He would be a casual laborer and therefore not entitled to workers comp.
