Re: needs surgery

Your boyfriend is entitled to workers' compensation benefits when injured during the course of his employment. This means that the compensation carrier (insurance) should pay 2/3 of his gross salary as long as a doctor certifies that he is unable to work. He ought to retain an experienced workers comp attorney and file a claim with the MD Workers' Compensation Commission. If there is a dispute between his doctor and the insurance doctor as to the need for surgery, the Commission will hold a hearing and rule on whether the insurance has to pay for the surgery and other related medical expenses.
