Legal Question in Workers Comp in Maryland

Tripped while reporting to work

I was injured while reporting to work. I was on federal property entering a federal building. This was about 40 min before start time. There were damaged floor tiles I tripped on and injured my knee. This was a secondary corridor with lighting that was dimmed by dead insects in the lighting fixture. Workers comp says that being it happened before my start time I have no case. Is this true? Accident occurred in Bethesda Md. Thanks in advance

Re: Tripped while reporting to work

If you are employed by a private sector employer the State WCC will probably cover your accident. If you are a Federal employee I cannot answer your question because your claim for compensation is under the FECA and there are very few lawyers in private practice handling cases before that agency.

You may also have a claim for negligence against the owner and or proprty manager for the building in failing to remedy a known hazard. Call me if you would like to discuss further.
