Legal Question in Workers Comp in Maryland

Workmans Comp in Maryland

I have been on leave for workmans comp for 6 weeks. Do I have to return to the job where I had the injury when my leave is up? Or can I start working someplace new once the doctor allows me to go back to work?

Re: Workmans Comp in Maryland

You can work anywhere you want. Once you return to work, you will lose any temporary disability benefits, unless you have accident-related physical restrictions, documented by your treating physician, that prevent you from earning an amount equivalent to what you were making at the time of the injury. However, if you sustained any permanent residual disability according to your doctor, you may be entitled to a permanent disability award. In this case your doctor would assign a disability rating under medical guidelines. You should consult an experienced workers comp attorney for assistance in recovering those benefits.
