Carpal Tunnel/Internships and ADA?

Are internships counted as employment under ADA?

Is carpal tunnel considered a disability under ADA?

I was offered a full time, paid summer internship with a federal agency. The work was all computer work- I have developed severe carpal tunnel and asked if I could use voice recognition software to complete the work or take on another project or combination of projects. The internship was then rescinded.

An internship is not probably NOT considered a job under the ADA. IT would be strange if it were.
