Legal Question in Disability Law in Massachusetts

commercial shellfishing

i tried to obtain my commercial shellfishing permit in my town and was rejected without any real reasons . summary i am 41 single father of three mental disability and recieve public assistance.it started out to be positive and i was told what channels i had to go through to obtain one so i did.first wrote a hand written letter to the town manager who they said {shellfish commitee}was the person who made the final decsions.i did and it was sent back to the committee with his approval and then they vote on it.there being only 45 commercial licenses and only about 5 people working them i thought well no promblem .they unimously voted it down and i was apalled and they didnt have one real reason why.i called the shellfish biologist in the town and was asking him why and he and i quote said it was all politcal 4 times and i asked if any of the town rules are written into law and he said no and further told me maybe if i new someone in the town with power i could change the outcome and i said the town manager ok it and you dont i was shocked.so they basically lead me down a path and gave postive feedback and then slammed the door in my face.none of these rules are in any of the other towns and chatham gave out 500 last year

Re: commercial shellfishing

You need a lawyer to help you. If money is a problem you could contact the Barnstable Bar Assopciation and ask for referral to an attorney. YOu could also discuss the matter with your state representative to see if s/he would intervene on your behalf.
