Legal Question in Disability Law in Massachusetts

Emotional distress

I worked for a company for appox. 9 months. I was released at the end of October, 2001 over a dispute concerning me using handicap parking spaces.(I made deliveries to convienence stores)I utilize a prosthetic arm and was using a legal handicap parking permit! I have written a rebuttal to both the company I worked for, and another company that I filed charges against. If both companies want to settle this without it going further, What amount of emotional distress and other pertinent recoveries should I be able to claim??

Re: Emotional distress

You are asking a question that is impossible to answer on the facts you have given. Emotional distress damages can be as little as a dollar - and can reach hundreds of thousands of dollars. Damages can only be evaluated after a careful look at all of the facts in the case, not merely a very brief summary.

Re: Emotional distress

No one can advise you on this issue without knowing the facts more fully. If you were fired, you have only 6 months to file a claim with the Massachuetts Commission Against Discrimination. That would be April, whatever day you were let go. If you don't file on time, your employer will not have to settle anything.
