Can I sue someone who falsely accused me of threatening them with a knife?

I suppose the answer is "it depends." To whom did they say it, and what was the negative impact to you of that accusation?

You can certainly file suit against someone, but in order to make a successful lawsuit, you need to make sure that the statement the person made was untrue, and made to someone other than yourself, and that you have been measurably harmed. If the statement was made to police or to a D.A., then the statement is likely privileged and will not give rise to civil liability.
