Legal Question in Banking Law in Massachusetts

I recently received some paperwork from my bank regarding identity protection. Included in this was a copy of my credit report along with the score from the big 3 credit reporting agencies. This was run WITHOUT my permission? Is this legal and if not, am I allowed to pursue a suit against them? Any info would be great. Thanks.

Most banks, especially if you have any loans (house, car, personal, etc) state when you open the account or loan that you agree to allow them to run your credit report periodically. I would ask the bank why they did it and under what authority, i.e. you signed something in fine print giving them such authority. If they did it without your written permission then you may have a case.

If you have any questions please call or email.
