Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Massachusetts

Authorized User on a Credit Card

I am considering filing for bankruptcy, but the main thing keeping me from going through with it is that I am an authorized user on one of my parents credit cards (the ''emergency'' credit card). Will they or that card become involved if I file?

Re: Authorized User on a Credit Card

If you are an authorized user then you can reaffirm the debt(balance) if there is any. If the card is paid every month then it does not need to be listed as there is no debt, however do not pay off to avoid listing. Need more information please contact me by email

Re: Authorized User on a Credit Card

If the account is your parents' and you are merely an "authorized user," then (typically) such an account would not be a debt of yours, and your bankruptcy case will neither discharge nor otherwise affect the account status.
