Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Massachusetts
If I was awarded a child support settlement in September of 2010 and my ex husband filed bankruptcy but has not yet had his creditor's meeting does he still have to pay me by the court ordered date of 1/20/2011?

I fear that giving advice on a document I haven't seen, such as the settlement and any related court order, can mislead you, so unfortunately I must state that you cannot rely on this response.
Having said that, generally speaking bankruptcy does not affect the obligation to pay ongoing present and future child support, but it can delay the deadline for a payment due for past child support depending on the type of bankruptcy that was filed (Chapter 7 or Chapter 13). I don't know what was covered by your settlement.
Good luck.
