Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Massachusetts

Bankruptcy Candidate

Hi. I am 20+ thousand dollars in debt. Almost 2 years ago I was living with my dad, paying no rent but was paying $300 dollars a month towards room and board. I bought my own groceries and paid my own bills. One day, dad just flipped and said get out.I couldn't understand why. Before this occurance I decided to go into debt management. My bring home pay is a little over $2,000 dollars a month. Debt management was taking over $700 dollars out of my checking account to pay off my debts with also a $35 dollar a month service fee. When I finally started paying rent, my checking account started to diminish quickly, so I stopped the debt management, only because I am still making car payments and long before any of this occured, I trapped myself into going into a co-ownership time share, which I'm also still paying into. The situation is, I never had a problem with paying my bills, and I tried to keep, on time payments. At times I had tried to get the creditors to please drop their interest rates so that I could at least be able to get the bills down. Now with rent utilities, car payment, time share, high gas rates, medicine, car maintenance and personal needs, I'm living from pay check to pay check. I am afraid of what will happen next

Re: Bankruptcy Candidate

From your post, it sounds like you may wish to consider filing a Chapter 7 bankruptcy and discharging all of your dischargable debts. It is unfortunate that you wasted your time with a debt management company. It does not appear that you benefited in any way from their services.

Though the space is too limited here to go into detail about a bankruptcy filing, I would be pleased to meet with you in my office at a mutually convenient to review your financial situation and develop the most appropriate strategy for dealing with it. I offer a free half hour consultation. Please take advantage of it and call my office to set up an appointment.
