What does it mean when I get a ''notice of appearance and demand for service of all papers'' from an attorney for one of our customers?

Re: Bankruptcy

In a nutshell, it means that you're now involved in a lawsuit of some sort and you need a lawyer.

A Notice of Appearance is an attorney telling the Court and the other parties in the case that s/he is now representing a party in the case. The Request for Service of All Papers is that attorney's request to be brought up to speed by receiving all the papers that have passed back and forth in the case from the beginning of the case until the Notice of Appearance was filed.

Re: Bankruptcy

An attorney sends a notice of appearance meaning that they represent this client, and request that all legal papers be sent to him.

It is a very common occurrence and happens in almost every case.
