Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Massachusetts
Mortgage and Bankruptcy
I am trying to find out if there was any type of law passed in Massachusettes that states if you file for bankruptcy that the judge will order the mortgage company to modify your mortgage- at least to a fixed rate versus an adjustable one.

Re: Mortgage and Bankruptcy
Bankruptcy is a FEDERAL law, not a Massachusetts law, although state law is sometimes relevant. The US Congress is considering legislation that would allow the federal bankruptcy judge to approve modifications of mortgages, but it has not yet passed Congress.
