Legal Question in Business Law in Massachusetts
cotracts
Can you ask a business like a dealership to sign a contract that you wrote up regarding a car you might buy? If a business can write up a contract for you to receive there services, can I also write one on my terms? Why or Why not? Thanks.

Re: cotracts
You can and probably should. The worst that can happen
is that they refuse (all or part) or that you end up
taking your business quietly to another dealer. Well, I suppose
the worst that could happen is that another dealer also
refuses and you end up back at the first dealer feeling
a little sheepish while you give in.
It's an excellent idea, especially if you're being fair
and reasonable in what you require of them. Lenders may be
less than thrilled if you needed them to sign something
non-standard, but don't bring that up to the dealer and
see if you can get their agreement!
I have a friend who buys cars from one dealership, takes
them on long trips, and has an arrangement with them: they
do all the maintenance on the car (and he brings it in when
they say), but if anything ever goes wrong with the car on
a road trip, they come and get the car themselves.
It's a great idea. Please send me a copy by e-mail or fax
of what you propose, and I'll probably give you an opinion
on it (no charge).
fax (617) 527-0050 if you send by fax, be sure to give me
an e-mail address for me to respond to or else a street address
and your name if you don't have e-mail.

Re: contracts
You can ask a dealership to sign any contract you want. However, they don't have to
sign it. You can draft one on your terms as both of you have freedom to negotiation
provided you act in good faith.
