Legal Question in Business Law in Massachusetts
cut hours
My employer frequently cuts employees' hours at the end of the week to avoid paying overtime and to cut labor costs. He usually cuts between .5 - 1.5 hours per person per week if he does choose to change their labor activity. Is there anything we can do to stop this from happening?

Re: cut hours
Unless you are protected by contract language, or unless the action is being done as an action in violation of discrimination law, your are an amploee at will, and your employer can make changes, or even fire you for any reason or for no reason. At the same time, if your employer is concerned about his financial status at the end of the week by trimming time, this may be a signal about the condition of the employer.
