Legal Question in Business Law in Massachusetts

Is my DBA business protected by my existing LLC?

I own an LLC that mostly performs computer and editorial services for publishers. I would like to keep the business going while also doing computer repair work on the side (something I already do for a few clients), so I filled out a DBA certificate at my local town hall for a new business and I listed my existing business as the registrant. (Essentially it's the same business; I just wanted to be able to market the new business using a different, more appropriate name.) Does my new business enjoy the same LLC protection as the original business?

A d/b/a is an acronym for "doing business as". As such, assuming the proper procedure is followed (filing a fictitious name certificate with the appropriate local authority etc), the business entity filing the d/b/a certificate is merely the alter ego of the business identified by the fictitious name.;)
