Employers responsibilty in liabilty of employee

Is an employer responsible for damages an employee causes on a job site? i.e. I work for an electrian and dirtied a customer's carpet with dirty shoes. Who is responsible for cleaning or replacing the carpet? Can the employee be held liable for full amount or employers deductible?

It is my belief that an employer is liable for the errors and omissions of his employees, and that taking it out of his salary or pay is a violation of his right to wages;

The employer is responsible to the customer. Generally, the deductible is a cost of doing business for the employer. You can check with the Attorney General's Wage and Hour Administration to determine if it is legal to deduct money from your pay to cover deductible.
