lawsuit for 1 million
is there anyway to find out if there is a lawsuit filed from one former employee towards the former business owner? i was told there was a lawsuit, i dont wish to know the particulars just whether the lawsuit was actually filed.

Yes, this just involves searching the dockets of the courts (since it is an employment case, it is bound to be in the state or federal court where the business is located). You can do your own leg-work or hire a search firm to do it for you.
