Legal Question in Business Law in Massachusetts

P.A and P.C

If I am currently a Sole Proprietorship in MA, is there any specific criteria for using P.A. (Professional Associate) in the title of your name? i.e Robert A. Smith, P.A.

Re: P.A and P.C

The use of the term PA is saved for Professional Associations and is limited for use by professionals licensed by the state. You can form a PC a PLLP or a PLLC in Massachusetts. Only PC and PLLC are usually used by one man opperations.

An Association by definition requires more than one person as a member.

You can file a PLLC with proof of good standing from a the License Bureau assuming it is required for your profession ie Accountants Doctors et cetera.

If you use P.A. after your name it could be considered misleading. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact me.
