Re: protection of an idea

A simple idea is not usually patentable. Example making fuel out of waste. The idea is not patentable. A process for doing it well may be patentable. If it is something that is mechanical, a process, or software related it may be protected by patent.

To protect the idea in terms of people who see it or work on it for you, you need a confidentiality agreement and a work for hire agreement with respect to anyone doing work on the idea for you.

I suggest you contact an attorney to discuss your options and to determine if the idea can be protected by patent, trademark or copyright in some way.

Please feel free to contact me directly without obligation.
