Legal Question in Business Law in Massachusetts
I provide small business bookkeeping and accounting services. Businesses that are interested in my services, are mostly businesses which are long time in business and have bookkeeping done up to some level. I want to ask if there is any form, which I can use to receive accounting (source documents and all other attributes) "as is" to secure myself from any liability for whatever was in accounting before I accepted it?

You should have an engagement letter which describes your services and indicates that you are relying upon the information as provided and answers to those questions which you ask for clarification. You should indicate that you are not doing an Audit or Review of their bookkeeping or accounts. You are simply providing bookkeeping services based on the information provided and that all tax returns prepared by you will be based upon your books and records as provided to you.
I am sure the AICPA has forms which you can buy which will provide you with the appropriate language. I assume you are a CPA or an approved agent in that you are preparing tax returns. If not, you need to be even more careful in preparing returns.
