Legal Question in Business Law in Massachusetts
(Before you start, you should know that I am 15 years old, and not a US citizen) I work as a freelance web designer, and now that I have a few clients but no time, I hired two people in New Zealand to do the designing for me. This means that I will be able to "sustain" more clients, and so I want to market my "company" more. I am leaning towards printed publications, such as postcards and flyers, but if I state the name of my company (which has not been registered yet because it hasn't reached that level) on it, will it be against the law? If it makes a difference, I am paying the taxes on my earnings, and I have a clear account of all my clients' information, date of transaction, and amount paid. If this is against the law, what can I change - except for registering it as an official company?

For $20 you can go to town hall and get a business license and an assumed name for your company such Dave's Webshop. They may not grant a business license from a 15 year old so double check with the Town Clerk on the requirements, such as your having a work permit, etc.
Techically operating a business under an assumed name without registering that name somewhere is not legal.
If you want to discuss this in more detail without obligation as to possible alternatives for you if you cannot register as an assumed name in your local town, please feel free to call me.
