Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Massachusetts
civil case?
my father was murdered in jail and the person who did it was found guilty of unintentional man slaughter. I would like to know if it is possible to have a civil case against the man and seu him or he jail for damages. Is it possible?

Re: civil case?
First of all, I am very sorry for the tragic loss of your father.
You may have a case for wrongful death against the security guards and prison if they failed to take reasonable precautions to prevent an incident like this from occurring.

I echo Attorney Vaughn-Martel's sentiments concerning this injustice. I also agree you may have claims against the prison system for failing to prevent a wrongful death of an inmate in their care.
To answer your question directly, yes, technically you probably could also obtain a civil judgment against the person responsible for your father's untimely death, but probably that person (who is still incarcerated, and probably will be for some time now) likely has few if any assets to actually pay any judgment you might obtain against him. However, that person could be included in a lawsuit against the prison system, et al, as a matter of principle.
