Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Massachusetts

Cop

A Police officer came to my street and

was searching my neigbor's yard

[their backyard and driveway]. is this

legal? Dosn't a Police Officer need a

warrant. This is Private Property.

Nobody was home at the time and it

was only one police officer searching

the yard. The family that lives there

is Latino. We live in a urban area

with a majority being Latino, Asian,

and African immigrants. The people

living on the street are White. The

Officer was uniformed and driving a

Police Pick-Up. Please tell me if this is

legal. Thank You.

Re: Cop

Based on the facts as you have presented them, there could be a number of valid reasons the police officer entered your neighbor's yard.

It really depends on the facts of the situation.

If your neighbor believe that s/he has a legal issue, please have them contact my office.

I would be happy to discuss the matter further.
