Re: filing civil suit

Filing suit on your own? Not a good idea. First, if your health plan is through an employer, you're likely going to be in federal court dealing with ERISA issues. The Employment Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 covers many health plans - and depending on the issues presented, you're likely going to have to resolve some ERISA issues. This is not something that most lawyers can handle - and pro se parties (parties without counsel) are doomed for failure. Even if it's not an ERISA matter, pro se parties should not be suing doctors or health insurers on their own. They have got plenty of lawyers working for them. Get a lawyer.
