Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Massachusetts
Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress
I dated a man for 9 months, for which 6 of the months he mentally and emotionally abused me (I did not understand the abuse until some time after he he severed the relationship, which was on September 9th. I told this man never to contact me again and I was adimant about it. He was adimant about contacting me even though he is the one that severed the relationship. He continued to call me, and e-mail and on September 11th he called me at 1pm at home and told me that he took a 1/2 day at work because he told his co-worker that I was on one of the planes that hit the NY towers. 3-days after this man said this to me, I was hospitalized for 4 days and have been dealing with suicidal thoughts, Before I met this man, I was of sound mind. I now have over $4,000 in uninsured hospital charges. My mother heard this call the man placed to me on speakerphone, as I was just walking in the front door from being let out of work early for fear of terrorizm in Boston.
Also on January 14, 2002, I received an e-mail from this man admitting guilty feelings and feeling really bad. This situation has caused me severe deistress. ALthough it has been almost 8 months, I still have nightmares, vomit, have trouble sleeping

You can file a criminal complaint against this man. Go to police or court. If he has any assets you can sue him in civil court for emotional distress damages
