Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Massachusetts

medical records

My estranged wife of two years, whom I am currently seeking divorce from, has obtained my navy medical records without my knowledge or authorization. She has mailed these records to another person in another state, with the intent to do me harm. Is this legal? These records could be determental to my character if received in the wrong hands.

Re: medical records

Medical records cannot be released by the provider unless a written authorization is issued by the patient. If the provider gave your wife the records, he has violated the law and your right to privacy.

Your wife if she lives in MA may also have violated you right to privacy which is protected by MA law.
