Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Massachusetts

neighbor harrasing

Live in apt. complex. Subsidized. woman moved in from NY state. I was on telephone when she walked by my apt. She over heard me and told neighbors she was scared of me. All that was said on phone, that she heard, was ''There she goes again.'' She called policeman. He said to me she just does not want a confrontation. Do I have to be worried what i say just because she is afraid of ''something'' that she is going to keep calling police? I do not nor have I spoken to this woman is months. I over hear her with neighbors talking about ''restraing orders etc. It causes me quite a bit of anxiety. thank you

Re: neighbor harrasing

Mere non-threatening words, even if unpleasant, are not criminal, and hence should not be the basis for police complaints. If these complaints persist, you might think about putting on/in the police file that this person is filing false police reports/charges against you. If she continues to do so, you might wish to engage a lawyer to seek a retraining order against her and or malicious prosecution claims against her.
