Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Massachusetts

i was recently fired from my job. my boss and i had a lot of disagrements so i knew it was comeing but then my son got sick and she used that excuse to fire me stateing that i was lieing. i am on the verge of being evicted from my appartment and am a single mother of 3 kids ages 1, 4, and 9. i went to the resorce center in my town for help baying my back rent wich is only 1060$. the board called my ex-employer to verify that i was no longer employed and my supervisor (who is also mad that a fellow employee quit causee of the unfair treatment of me) told the board that i was an awfull employee and lied about every thing and was unhireable and could never hold a job. because of her statments the board refused my request for help and now my children and i will be homeless. is there any leagle action i can take against her or the company?
