Legal Question in Technology Law in Massachusetts

Gator hypertext links in my web site

I am the owner of a fiction and poetry web magazine. It has recently come to my attention that people who have installed the software for Gator and Offer companion (they come together) get links to ads inside of my pages.

They are not simply pop-ups or banners, but it pulls words out of the text on the pages, such as ''debt'' or ''ubiquitous'' and turns them into links to Gator ads. It seems to me that this is in violation of my copyright as they are modifying my page without permission or payment.

Is what they are doing legal because the users voluntarily install the software, and if not, what can I do about it?

I know that gator program. I don't know the answer to your specific question, but a lawyer's letter to them would flesh out the positions and enable you to consider your next step.

All legal claims have time limits; I can't say what they are here but don't delay.
