Legal Question in Construction Law in Massachusetts

I have hired a contractor to install and complete my modular home. This house has been on site since 1/11/11. My final punch list with this contractor remains unfinished, I have electric switches in the home that control nothing, exposed plywood on a vinyl sided home, and a crack in the foundation that leaks when it rains. I have just found out that the contractor's license expired 6/24/11. He sent me a letter stating that he is done working on the home and has collected all monies from the bank. I have contacted the Attorney General's Office and have been told there is nothing they can do because his license is expired. Do I need to contact an attorney?

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. It is true that you may not get relief from the Attorney General's Office; however, you may have various claims under the Home Improvement Contractor's Act. I recommend that you speak to a seasoned Construction Law Attorney. My office frequently represents Homeowners and Contractors in similiar disputes. Feel free to give me a call if you would like to discuss further. (978) 794-5509.
