Legal Question in Construction Law in Massachusetts

I recently had a contractor fix my font yard on $3000, we have a contract to pay half before start and another when job is completed. I paid $1500 upfront and both of us sign the contract to finish the job. While handing check the contract ask to give him check in this name which I did. During the end of the project there were some glitches which I wanted to fix. I agree to pay him $1500 but there where other small cost for which I have agreed to pay as well $300. I wanted to held that money, he did not agree and then we have argument for a small time. This time I paid him $1500 on check on his company name and $300 on his name(as this is something I asked him to purchase to finish the job). He get really angry and started to harsh me I asked him to leave my premises.

It's been 10 days since I handed over the check but he has not cashed, is that my problem? Should I call him? I have paid him what he has asked for and contracted amount.

I strongly recommend you retain an attorney that focuses in Construction Law. Feel free to contact my office at (978) 794-5509 as we would be happy to help.
