Legal Question in Consumer Law in Massachusetts

Ask 3 years contract for martial art school

Taekwondo martial art school is located in my town. the owner are asking all parents to have 3 year contract for their children. So, even though their children give up, the parents should keep paying for 3 years. Is that rule legal?

Also, they are charging more than $650 for black belt promotion test fee. is the promotion fee up to the owner's decision?

Thank you

Re: Ask 3 years contract for martial art school

This does seem a little much considering that children do not have the maturity level of an adult to make such a long commitment.

However, whether it is legal or not, I would have to do further research on same.

What I would suggest you do initially is contact the attorney general's office and ask for the consumer protection department, with your inquiry.

Sincerely, Maria Murber
