It depends on who your employer is and the position you applied for. If you are applying to the CIA, that is only the beginning.

Ultimately, the potential employer can refuse to hire you if you do not answer questions that are not barred as being related to illegal discrimination. High school records are accessed every day by employers, especially if the applicant does not have much of a work history. It will reflect how seriously you took your obligation to do your schoolwork and show up.

The employer probably cannot force you to list your creditors, but can ask you to authorize access to your credit report(s), and will have access to those names of the creditors who report credit accounts to them. It may not include all your creditors, especially medical service providers and utilities, unless you have gone to collection with them for past due bills. And, again, the employer can decide not to hire you if you refuse. The credit report will show if you have any credit, how well you have handled your credit if you have any, and may point to problems with money-handling and even bounced checks, which could be evidence of larceny by check. An employer might not want a person with money problems, especially in a position that handles money.

Some employers are required by law to obtain a criminal record history for some applicants.
