Auto Dealer Wants to Change Sale Terms After Signing

I purchased two automobiles from a local dealer approx. 3 weeks ago. They called today to tell me that they made a mistake with the sales tax in my paperwork and that instead of wrapping it into the financing as I told them many times to do, they listed it as having been paid by me in cash. They now want me to come in and sign all new paperwork adding the sales tax to my financing, therefore increasing my monthly payment. If I had known prior to signing that my payment would be that much higher it might have killed the deal, which I think might be the point. At this point cancelling the deal is not an option. Am I obligated to sign new papers or pay the sales tax?

I don't see how they can add to your financing agreement - it is signed and final. They listed sales tax as paid - is it? Perhaps then they are obligated to pay that too. YOu should make demand they do so and refuse to sign any new agreements. If situation not resolved to your satisfaction, send them a 93A demand letter under Ch. 93A of the Massachusdts law. Contact office of consumer affairs for instructions. Also report dealer to this office and to office of attorney general
