Legal Question in Consumer Law in Massachusetts
I hired an electrical contractor 1 month ago to finish a job. He frequently cancels the work last minute, breaks drywall, and will leave early. We paid half up front, approximately 1k. I live in Massachusetts and was wondering if I can persue legal action against this contractor to get reimbursed for the 1k?

You should mail him a certified letter (return receipt requested) stating that as of the letter's date, you are holding him in breach of contract for (list each reason in the order of importance).
Demand that he refund all money that he has received under the agreement to you immediately by certified funds or cash within "X" number of days from the date of your letter, or you will take proper legal action against him and file a complaint with the State licensing authority.
File a small claims action against him if he doesn't refund your money promptly. Seek further legal assistance as needed. Good Luck!
