Legal Question in Consumer Law in Massachusetts

lawyer's bill

I hired a lawywer for a restraining order taken out against me. I paid a 2000 flat fee, and paid for the transcribing of the hearings I went to without a lawyer. I paid an additional 230 for this. The day of the hearing the other person did not show up, I shook my lawyers hand and asked if we were all set. He said I was paid in full and we parted ways. 6 months later he had his secratary call me and tell me he underbilled me for the transcriptions. Can he do this? If so whats preventing him from coming up with more expenses I owe him? Please advise

Re: lawyer's bill

Did s/he send a copy of the bill? If s/he did undercharge, you could argue that s/he orally agreed that s/he was paid in full. Try refusing to pay. If s/he really wants it s/he can take you to small claims court.
