Legal Question in Consumer Law in Massachusetts

Is a marine surveyor liable for not finding major defects in his report

I purchaced a boat last October and had it surveyed by a surveyor cost of $475.00 I am now selling the boat and the buyer had his own survey done and foung major strctural items manily the stringers were rotton and water had weeped into the hull and caused damage to the hull. This can be repaired but is very costly. On the survey I had done there is no mention of any of this in addition on the report it states he (the surveyor) is not liable for anything he does not find. I would like to know if legealy he can be held liable for such neglance.

If you can establish his negligence liability would arise. However, he would not be liable for a problem that arose after the time of his service.
