Legal Question in Consumer Law in Massachusetts
real estate advertising
I submitted an ad in a local real estate magazine for a property for sale, Since the owners built the home themselves and told us they reproduced the style of a local architect, I used the following phrase to describe the home.
''(Name of local Architect)inspired Colonial.........''
The Architect called and said that he is taking this to his lawyer, we cannot use his name, he wants a piece of the money from the sale, etc,
I di not think anyone could prevent you from saying inspired, I'm not claiming it was built by him. Is it illegal to advertise that way? Will the broker I work for as an assitant be liable in anyway?
Thank you for your attention.

Re: real estate advertising
The architect is saying his work is copyrighted and its use is a wrong to him. I would ask him what he wants and negotiate with him or try to go to mediation.
