Legal Question in Consumer Law in Massachusetts
I recently purchased a bedroom set from a store but it was not in their showroom. I purchased from their catalog. I was promised the item would have a board to go over the slats to protect my mattress and underbed storage. Neither of these things happened. The product was delivered yesterday. It was assembled shoddily and when I called the store owner to ask him about the things I was promised, he told me that they were not part of the purchase price and that I would now have to pay $60 for the board to protect my mattress and $180 EACH SIDE for the underbed storage I ordered. Not to mention, the dressers and other pieces are not proportionate to the size of the bed. They look like they belong in a children's bedroom set and not a set that goes with a King Size Bed. The bedroom set cost $3000 and the receipt says they have a 24 hour return policy. How can they have a 24 hour return policy for something they had to order and I hadn't even seen? Is this legal?

Sure doesn't sound legal to me. You may wish to send them a faxed/mailed (certified return receipt) demand letter, advising them that you reject this delivery and are considering them in violation of Massachusetts General Law Chapter 93A (Check it out online.)
If they do not offer you a satisfactory resolution within 30 days after you mail your letter, feel free to contact this office for free further consultation. Good Luck!
