Legal Question in Consumer Law in Massachusetts

if somene forges your signature on a mortgage and promissory note, and also alters the documents to create the appearance you signed them, is that considered identity fraud? my wife took out a mortgage and i wasnt a party to it. i was not named any where on the document. the closing attorney told me to sign it as a "witness". now, several years later, the bank who is claiming to hold the mortgage has produced documents which do not match the original recorded documents. specifically my name was typed in under "borrower", the notary acknowledgement was altered, etc etc. and they are now saying i was a borrower in connection with the loan. the have altered every piece of paper to make it appear i was a party to the loan, and produced numerous documents altered in different ways, none of which match the original mortgage/note.
