Legal Question in Consumer Law in Massachusetts

Web site won't honor its money back guarantee

To whom it may concern,

I recently subscribed to a website. Basically the claim it proposed

was that if you sign up and pay their 35 dollar fee they will give you

information about taking online surveys and you will be able to

make back that 35 dollars and more within 60 days. If you don't

then you can have your money back.

Well, I didn't. So at the end of this August I sent them an e-mail

requesting my money back. After some time they finally responded

and said it might take up to 20 business days for the refund to

appear on my credit statement. Well, those 20 days came and

went and nothing changed. So I communicated with them a few

more times and they seemed to say that they were processing my

refund, but now, nearly 2 months later, theyve stopped

communicating and I have no refund. I think theyre just ignoring

me now.

I think they took down their money back offer from their website

too. Maybe they think that means they dont have to pay me back. I

hope thats not right. Is there anything I can do about it? I guess the

only proof I have that they even offered a money back guarantee is

the e-mails they sent me in return. Thank you.

You're lucky you didn't pay more. I would urge you to notify the Better Business Bureau, the Office of the Attorney General and Office of Consumer Affairs. Maybe you can prevent harm to others.
